You should get your oil changed every 6 months or every 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you notice your engine oil is low, your oil is dirty, or if your check engine light is on, it's time for an oil change.

A locking wheel nut key is a small, cylindrical metal tool, typically found in your glovebox or car boot, used to secure and remove your car's wheels.

This key, along with the locking wheel nut, is specifically designed to protect your wheels from theft and is uniquely matched to your vehicle. While it may seem like just a simple piece of metal, it plays a crucial role in your cars security.

If your key is ever lost or damaged, it's essential to consult a reputable tyre dealer who can safely remove the locking wheel nut without harming your vehicle.

Getting booked in with plenty of notice is vital, especially for routine maintenance and MOT's. We recommend getting in touch at a minimum of 3 weeks before your MOT is due to expire. However, our customers are our highest priority so we will always try our best to accommodate everyone.

We offer two levels of car servicing to suit your needs: Interim (Small) Service and Full Service.

• Interim Service (Small): This is a 20-point service ideal for low-mileage drivers covering key essentials such as:
  • Replacing engine oil and the air filter
  • Fuel system treatment to ensure smooth operation
  • Checking lighting, battery, brakes, cooling systems, as well as your engine oil for potential leaks
  • Inspecting belt health
  • Performing a range of smaller checks, for instance, seatbelt condition

• Full Service: A more comprehensive 30-point check designed to thoroughly inspect your vehicle. It includes everything from the Interim Service, plus:
  • A deep dive inspecting condition of key engine components
  • Replacing all filters (oil, air, and pollen) and spark plugs
  • Brake service and suspension checks
  • Cleaning rust off the brake callipers 
  • Testing suspension joints

We always check the condition of your vehicle’s parts, and we only replace what’s necessary to ensure you never pay extra for something that you don’t need.

Unlike MOTs, servicing your vehicle is not compulsory, but it is highly recommended to ensure the longevity of your vehicle.

A good guideline is to service your vehicle every 12 months or every 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. At Wollaton Auto Centre, we suggest opting for a partial or 'interim' service if you've driven 7,000 miles or less during the year, which we're happy to do alongside your annual MOT.
